$1 Million in Drought Funding

UPPER Hunter Shire Council was successful in receiving $1 million in federal grant funding for drought relief, which will be spent on a range of projects including:

  • water filling stations for Scone and Merriwa enabling farmers and others to ‘fill up’ their pods;
  • maintenance and repairs on Merriwa Youth Centre;
  • mobility access toilets and outdoor play area for Murrurundi Library;
  • shade sails at the deep end of Merriwa and Scone pools;
  • upgrades to Merriwa Tennis Courts;
  • new canteen and office at White Park;
  • new irrigation system at the Bill Rose Sports Complex, and
  • an adventure park at Jefferson Park in Aberdeen.
