THE Upper Hunter Shire Council is assessing the use of the five libraries across the Shire including the hours of operation.

The Aberdeen library is currently open for two hours on Monday to Thursday and most of the day on Friday, but in a recent Council survey 36 percent of Aberdeen library users said they wanted opening times and days improved.

To have your say on when the Aberdeen library should be open Council have developed a short survey: Aberdeen Library Opening Times.

20160729Library01Currently 14 percent of Aberdeen residents are members of the library an Council hopes reviewing the hours of operation may increase use of the library.

The library offers more than 5,300 resources including books, magazines, DVDs CDs and talking books, as well as free WiFi, computers and digital games.

Staff are also able to order books and there is a regular rotation of materials from other libraries to keep materials fresh and accessible.

The survey closes on August 31.
