Accident in Murrurundi

THE Westpac Rescue Helicopter has landed at the Scott Memorial Hospital in Scone to retrieve a patient who is being transported by road ambulance from Murrurundi.

The patient was in a truck which left the road on the New England Highway south of Murrurundi.

The helicopter was returning to Tamworth from the John Hunter, when it was diverted to the Scott Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 3:30pm: NSW Ambulance have confirmed they were called to the scene at approximately 2pm. The patient is a male in his 30’s who has sustained a chest injury and was transferred in a stable condition to the Scott Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 4pm: The Traffic Management Centre has confirmed the accident has occurred near Wrights Road, Wingen, on the New England Highway approximately half way between Murulla and Wingen. Traffic is affected in both directions and motorists are advised to expect delays.

UPDATE 4:50pm: Westpac Rescue Helicopter has confirmed the patient is a 31 year old male.
