Accident near Aberdeen

AT approximately 2:30pm police, fire and ambulance were called to a collision involving at least two vehicles on the New England Highway, approximately 500 metres south of Aberdeen, near Day’s Concreting.

Local ambulance are assessing three patients and initial reports are one vehicle had caught alight which has created a small grass fire.

UPDATES:

  • 2:50pm: The Westpac Rescue Helicopter is on route to the collision. Both the local Fire and Rescue and Rural Bushfire Service brigades are on scene.
  • 3pm: Traffic Management Control confirm the New England Highway is closed in both directions.
  • 4pm: LIGHT VEHICLE DIVERSIONS: NORTH Bound traffic is being diverted at Muswellbrook onto Aberdeen Street, then use Kayuga Road, Invermein and Dartbrook roads to rejoin the Highway. SOUTH bound traffic is to use Blairmore Lane, then onto Invermein, Dartbrook and Kayuga roads. HEAVY vehicles are not diverted.
  • 5:45pm: Heavy vehicles and north bound traffic are gradually being directed through the scene of the accident on the New England Highway. South bound light vehicles are still being diverted via Kayuga Road.
