Accident North of Muswellbrook

AT approximately 10:20am a Mazda sedan car travelling north on the New England Highway collided with a horse transport truck approximately two kilometres north of Muswellbrook near Sandy Creek Road.

Police say it appears the sedan appears to have crossed onto the other side of the road and collided with the south bound truck.

The driver of the sedan has passed away.

The driver of the truck was uninjured and one horse being transported in the truck had minor injuries.

Live Traffic New South Wales have advised that:

• Northbound traffic is being diverted into Aberdeen St.
• Southbound traffic is being diverted into Dartbrook Mine Access Rd.
• This diversion is not suitable for heavy vehicles, which are being parked.
