Competitor number one Bronson Macklinshaw has taken out the 2016 King of the Ranges with Eden Hope Smokey.

Mr Macklinshaw was the 2015 King of the Ranges and again proved his horsmanship by retaining the number one vest.

The decision for the title was a close one with fellow competitor David Mitchell taking out the runner up.

The decider came down to the last event, the stock saddle buckjump.

Bronson Macklinshaw has been part of the event for seven years and said he will be back.

“I am a horse breaker full time and a lot of the events I do in day to day work,” said Mr Macklinshaw.

“I would like to thank the owners of Eden Hope Smokey, Darrell and Bernie Smith,” he said.

“I would also like to thank the sponsors and the committee for putting on such a great event,” Bronson Macklinshaw said.

The ladies Chamionship was taken out by competitor 35, Emma O´Shea and Highlight Dads Acres.

Emma lives in Almaden in far north Queensland and Tumut in southern New South Wales depending on the season.

“I am a horsebreaker in Tumut and I do contract mustering in Queensland, the winters are too cold down here,” said Ms O´Shea.

The King of the Ranges committee treasurer Errol Dutton was happy with the attendance.

“Our caravan site is completely full, and the local park is as well” said Mr Dutton.

“We are happy with the attendance, there was 100 percent attendance at the Drovers Dinner, the stall holders are happy with returns and said they will come back next year.” Mr Dutton said.

Spectator for the last six years, Grant White keeps coming back and sums it up.

” I come here every year because it is a great atmosphere and I get to catch up with people, it is a great event,” Mr White said.
