FROM representing New South Wales down south and in Queensland to contesting finals in Muswellbrook, the 2017 polocrosse season has kicked off in a big way for the local Bunnan Club.

See gallery below.

From April 14 – 16 juniors from around the country descended on the Albury Holbrook Polocrosse grounds for the famed Junior Classic.

Bunnan’s Emily Wamsley made the NSW two under 12 teams, while Campbell Rose made it into the NSW one under 16 team and sister Jilly played in the NSW four under 16 team.

Angus and Sophia Rose, Jake Wamsley, Roy and April Lawler and Nicole Martin all played in an under 12 team down at Albury while Leah, Abbey and Kaylene Wilson played in a Ladies Open Silver Stirrup team and just missed out on getting into the final by one goal in extra time.

A week later, the horde headed north to the amazing Warwick Polocrosse grounds for the annual Interstate Barastoc Series.

Leah Wilson was selected to play in the under 16 girls team, who were runner up to Queensland.

Clancy Martin and Campbell Rose played in the under 16 Boys, with Clare Martin as the manager and they too were runner up to Queensland.

Joe Wamsley captained the under 21 Mens team and beat Victoria in the final.

Joe’s mare Lulus Gift also won Champion Australian Stock Horse of the grade.

Sarah Finlayson and Lauren Sinderberry were in the under 30 Mixed with coach Brad Wamsley and manager Cathy Finlayson and they went down to Queensland in their final.

It was great to see all Bunnan representatives coming home with prizes from State level.

Last weekend five Bunnan teams competed at Muswellbrook.

The under 12 team of Roy Lawler, Jorji and Darcy Taaffe and Ben Patterson were runner up.

Our D Grade Open team of Brent Morcom, Lewis Wall, Clancy Martin, Mick Fitzgerald, Eddie Rossington and Tom Rossington ran out winners.

Brent got Best No.1, Eddie got Best No.2, Clancy was Best No.3, and Brent was awarded the Champion Australian Stock Horse prize.

The A Grade Women’s team of Alane Moore, Tegan Halsted, Abbey Wilson, Racheal Finlayson, Claire Hockings, and Sarah Finlayson were beaten by 1 goal in their final.

Racheal got Best No.1, Claire was awarded Best No.2, and Rach also got the Champion Australian Stock Horse award.

The C Women went down in their semi against Muswellbrook and the A Men were narrowly beaten in an exciting semi against Quirindi.

This weekend Bunnan players and ponies will head up to Quirindi and no doubt more great results will follow.
