The game of triples was played by 12 teams.

Dianne Pund and Sue Watts won with a score of 34.

Dianne Pund she was pleased to have won the shield as she remembers Joan French fondly.

“I’m quite happy about it, because Joan, my mum Mavis Pund, Mertyl Frost and Inis Whalan all played cards together,” said Dianne Pund.

“They were a gang together, who enjoyed their cakes, coffee and a few drinks,” she laughed.

“My mum had her name on this shield with Coral Mainwaring in 2005,” she said.

Sue Watts is new to lawn bowls and is thoroughly enjoying the game.

“It’s exciting and I am learning a lot from the ladies here,” said Sue Watts.

“I still play golf, but I am enjoying my bowls,” she said.

“It was nice to win the shield, Joan was a great bowler.

“Now we just need some younger people playing,” Sue said.
