A WORKSHOP is being held in Merriwa on Thursday to help Upper Hunter sheep farmers make more money from their sheep.

The workshop will be conducted by the Meat and Livestock Authority and is funded by the Hunter Local Land Services.

Chris Kemp, who is supplying the sheep from his Corriedale Stud property “Merrigal”, has been interested in this workshop over the years and was integral in the organisation of the event.

“I read about it and thought it would be a useful thing to do, I have been wanting to do it for some years” said Mr Kemp.

The workshop has been running for some time in the south of the state but Chris thought it could be beneficial in this area as well.

“It’s been down south but this is one of the first times it has been this far north.” Chris Kemp Said.

It is useful for all sheep varieties and when Chris started talking with organisers the Merriwa event became a reality with funding being available through the Hunter Local Land Services.
