First Carnival, Seven Teams, Two A Grade Finals

LAST weekend the first polocrosse carnival of the season in the Hunter Zone was hosted by Quirindi. The local Bunnan Polocrosse Club were in attendance, in force and fielded a massive seven teams at the carnival, which saw 58 teams in attendance.

Bunnan had an extremely successful weekend where both the A Grade Men and the A Grade Women played in the finals on Sunday afternoon.

Our A Grade women were runner up to Quirindi. Well done Rach and Sarah Finlayson, Leith Pryor (Best No.3), Erica Mitchell, Abbey and Kaylene Wilson.

The A Grade Men went down by 1 goal in their final (and had the ball in their racquet when the final bell went). Thanks for the excellent polocrosse Ricky Mitchell, Michael Hockings, Brett Pryor, Mitch Wamsley and his sub Chris Green, Brad Wamsley (Best No.2) and Joe Wamsley (Best No.3).

Our A Grade Juniors were runner up. Congrats Clancy Martin, Jorji Taffe, Nicole Martin, Jack Hamilton, Gus and Jillie Rose.

Winning the C Grade Men’s division was the dream team of Campbell Rose, Ben Griffiths (Best No.2), Andrew Rose (Best No.3), Chris Green (Best No.1), Ben Arnot and Dale Johnston.

Sub Junior Best No.1 and Champion Sub Junior Horse of the Carnival went to Emily Wamsley and Star Dust.

Champion Men’s Australian Stock Horse, sponsored by the ASH Hunter Branch was awarded to Mitch Wamsley and the very speedy Efficient.

Champion Horse of the Carnival, sponsored by Debbie and Mark Palmer and winning a service to Palmer’s El Condo went to Joe Wamsley and his brilliant mare Lulu’s Gift.

The Quirindi carnival was the first time new players Grant Miles, Ryan Bagnall, Emily Wright, Jacqui Simpson, Ellie Barnett and Ben Griffiths have pulled on a red, blue and yellow shirt and played for Bunnan. Welcome to the club, it’s great to see the club and the sport growing.

Now that the season is well under way we look forward to the Zone Championships held on the 26th and 27th of May and hosted by Muswellbrook. Zone representative teams were announced at the beginning of the week.
