Call Out for Uber

UBER driver Michael Collins, is encouraging people in the Upper Hunter to become Uber drivers, earn some extra money and help reduce drink driving on our roads.

Michael Collins who is based in Branxton, has previously been a prison guard and knows all too well the problems with lack of public transport and drink driving in country areas.

“It is ridiculous the amount of drink driving that goes on, but in the country not having public transport makes it harder to have a plan B to get home,” said Mr Collins.

“Being an Uber driver is a great way to earn some money and it is completely up to you when you work,” he said.

Making a plan B would be easier with Uber in town.

“You just switch on the App that you are ready to go and switch it off when you want to knock off,” he said.

“The passengers are not too bad, at night I have a hospital bag handy in case anyone is a bit drunk, but there are good safety nets in place to screen out passengers you don’t want.

“If you write a bad review about a passenger they are automatically black listed by Uber from calling on your car again.

“So what that means is their mate might be able to see your car is available, but they won’t be able to see you at all,” he said.

“It is also really safe for the passengers and In Sydney there are more people starting to book Ubers to pick up their kids from school and sport, because the car is tracked by real time GPS, you can see where it is at all times and as part of registering drivers have a police check,” said Michael Collins.

Mr Collins said it is ideal for anyone over the age of 21 with a car less than 10 years old.

“If people are interested they should give me a call and the process is very simple to register, but you do have to go down to West Concord for your car to be passed by Uber

“But it is really flexible, I mean you could Uber in Scone and then if you are away on the weekend somewhere where Uber operates you can do a few jobs there as well,

“I mean if you were a young guy going down to catch up with mates in Newcastle on the weekend, once you are registered you could go and do some Uber Eats trips during the day to make some cash, then clock off and go out with your friends that night and your night is paid for,
