Calling for Friends of Strathearn

Filed in Recent News by February 19, 2018

TODAY the Friends of Strathearn are holding their annual general meeting and are hoping to encourage more community support for local aged care.

Yvonne McGrady, president of the Friends of Strathearn said it was important to look after the elderly in our community.

“Strathearn is so important to the town, they are looking after people who are getting to the end of their life and not everyone has family who can provide that kind of care and when a family can no longer care for them, Strathearn is the place to go,” said Ms McGrady.

“The equipment can be very expensive and not everything is covered by the government, so we fundraise for things like lifters to help get people out of bed or into a shower, new mattresses and shower chairs,” she said.

The annual general meeting will be held today and people who would like to support the Friends of Strathearn through volunteering or donating can contact Karen Rayner: 02 6545 1922.

  • WHEN: 2pm, February 19, 2018.
  • WHERE: Community Centre, Unit 3, 75 Gundy Road, Scone.
  • Community Calendar: Friends of Strathearn AGM.
