Car Collides with Train

A car has collided with a train on Segenhoe Road, just north of Aberdeen.

Emergency services are on scene and the New England Highway remains open.

UPDATE 1: Nobody was injured and the incident occurred at approximately 5:30pm.

UPDATE 2: The traffic management centre has advised the passenger rail services between Scone and Muswellbrook will be replaced by buses. It is expected that passenger services will run as normal tomorrow.

UPDATE 3: Police have confirmed the vehicle which collided with the train just before 5:30pm today, had left the scene but is likely to have been a white Mitsubishi Triton single cab ute with Victorian number plates and damage to the rear tray. UPDATE 4: The Australian Rail Track Corporation has confirmed they expect the rail will reopen in the next hour. The train was a grain train which was headed south to port. There has been no damage to the rail infrastructure.
