Changes Approved for McDonald’s

ON Monday Council approved a development application for McDonald’s to make changes to their site including building a new playground and changing their drive through.

Daniel Zammit, franchisee of Scone McDonald’s said the playground will be completed in the first half of 2018, while changes to the drive-through will be done in a few years.

“From a bypass point of view we want to encourage people to drive through rather than drive on,” said Mr Zammit.

“We want the new playground not just to attract people traveling through, but it is really designed for the local kids,” he said.

“It is big at 6.3 metres high and for days like today we want it enclosed and air-conditioned so mums can leave their kids and enjoy some down time,” he said.

“There are not a lot of places in Scone where you can do that, there are parks, but on hot or rainy days it is difficult,” he said.

“It will also mean we can cater to birthday parties for one to five year olds and it will just be another option to holding a party at home,” Daniel Zammit said.

The plans allow for the car parking to the west of the building to be changed to a two lane drive through, with payment and service windows relocated to the east of the building and the current drive through service area will become a car park.

The approved changes included:

  • a new playground;
  • upgrades to the facade of the building;
  • an additional drive through lane;
  • a new and replacement drive-through building and pylon signage and
  • minor alterations to the architectural plans.
