CLIFF Richardson from Gresford last night claimed the Open Bull Ride Champion title at the 2017 Scone Charity Rodeo after competing in the event for a number of years.

Although not a local resident Cliff is a common sight in Scone as he is a cattle buyer when he is not riding bulls, throwing calves or taming bronco’s.

“I’m a cattle buyer through the week, I am up there at Scone all the time,” said Mr Richardson.

“I have never won it at Scone before so it’s pretty good, it’s a big show and I’ve been going there for a lot of years now, I’ve won a few other events there before and placed in the bull rides, it’s good to win it, it all helps,” said Mr Richardson.

“I got about $1500 which will pay for bills and make sure we eat for a week, it was a good crowd of people there and all the family were there so it was good”.

“I should be back next year providing I’m still healthy and going I’ll be there, I’m 26 and I’ve been riding them for about 14 or 15 years so it’s been a while now. It’s a good sport, it’s a good family sport rodeoing and I am riding with fellas there last night that I have been riding with since I was 12, some of my best mates.” Cliff Richardson said.
