Colonel’s Footbridge Closed

Filed in Recent News by March 6, 2016

THE Colonel’s Footbridge near Moss Vale Road, Moonan was closed on Thursday, due to safety concerns.

The wooden pedestrian swing bridge was found to have termite damage to the piers, causing the piers to sink 20 centimetres downstream and upstream piers to sink 4 centimetres into the ground.

Residents rely on using the bridge when the Hunter River is flooded as it is the only access to Moss Vale Road across the river.

Council is investigating what repairs are needed.
