Course to Recognise Risk of Suicide

Filed in Recent News by August 18, 2016

A world renowned course to teach people how to recognise if someone may be at risk of suicide will be run in Tamworth next week and Fiona Livingstone from Farm Link encourages local people to attend.

People learn to apply a suicide intervention model, connect with them to understand and clarify risk of suicide and increase their immediate safety before linking them with further help.

“It is a world renowned course and is relevant for anyone who wants to develop skills around recognising someone may be having thoughts of suicide and how to provide first aid for that person”, she said.

“Approximately a million people from  over the world have been trained in this program, the course has not been run in this area that we know of,” she said.

“The course if for anyone over 16 years old and is suitable for people who recognise others or themselves may have difficulties with depression and are more susceptable to thoughts of suicide now or for future assistance.

“It is quite common that people can come who are struggling themselves and are looking for a way to be able to find  a lifeline for themselves” Fiona Livingstone said.
