Cracker of a Christmas Celebration

MORE than 1,200 people were at Christmas in the Park this year in Scone.

Lee Watts, manager of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre said it was a great turn-out which went off with a bang.

“It was just so exciting to see so many people come down and celebrate Christmas together as a community,” said Mrs Watts.

“Last year was much slower because of the wet weather, but this year there were plenty of people,” she said.

“It was just great to see so many families bring their picnic rugs and chairs, relax, enjoy the food and the market stalls while the kids had their faces painted and enjoyed all of the rides,” she said.

“The fireworks at the end of the night were spectacular, everybody loved them and to see a display like that in Scone is just fantastic,” she said.

“The Christmas in the Park is our biggest fundraiser and definitely the most fun,” she said.

“We are a small team and we are so grateful to the volunteers who helped us create Christmas and the sponsors who were fantastic this year: McDonald’s for the fireworks, Regional Australia Bank, JBS, Daracon, Woolworths, Upper Hunter Shire Council, Upper Hunter Mne’s Shed, Bunnings, Hunter Valley Bricks and Pavers, Ray White, Cellerbrations, Scone RSL, the Oh’s and Chloe Hall and Damien Leith for doing a surprise performance – it was as much a surprise to him,” laughed Lee Watts.
