Hilary Turner, secretary of the King of the Ranges said the event is off to a brilliant start.

“Yesterday was one of the best days so far and people have travelled from all over the country to be here,” said Ms Turner.

“There is a competitor from Darwin and lots of spectators from Sydney and quite a few from Victoria,” she said.

“It is very popular with the travellers with caravans,” she said.

“This year we were all a bit worried about the weather, but it has been perfect, there is some cloud cover this afternoon which will be great for the cross country,” Hilary Turner said.
