Wayne Parkinson, owner of the store said the police had several good leads and the new store will have complete video surveillance.

“We reported it to police straight away and they asked who was in around the shop recently, we gave as many names as we could and a few of them were familiar to the police; so they were following up leads yesterday,” said Mr Parkinson.

“If anyone saw someone carrying a large box either by themselves or with the help of someone yesterday, we’d appreciate them calling the police,” he said.

“It’s gone viral on our Facebook site and there has been more than 140 shares and if someone sees a bike like this because it is a fairly distinctive bike they are going to get found out pretty quick.

“The new store will have complete video surveillance inside and out, but we didn’t do a full blown security system here knowing that we were about to move, which is frustrating,” Wayne Parkinson said.

The bike was in one of several boxes on the back verandah of the shop ready to move to the new premises and was taken between 11am and 2pm yesterday.

The Scone Sports Store is currently at 133 Kelly Street and is moving this weekend to 233 Kelly Street, which was the former premises of Potter Macqueen, next door to the optometrist and will reopen on Wednesday.

Owners Wayne and Kim welcome people to come and see the new store when it reopens on Wednesday and have big plans for the new store including more camping and fishing equipment.

If you have information relating to the theft of the bike please contact local police on 02 6542 6999 or call Crime Stoppers if you would like to remain anonymous: 1800 333 000.
