Driver Flown to John Hunter

THE 45 year old male driver of one of the b-double trucks involved in an accident on the New England Highway south of Parkville shortly after 3am was flown by the Tamworth Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the John Hunter with suspected spinal and pelvic injuries and  broken scapula.

The driver, who was trapped in the truck was treated on scene by ambulance, then transferred to the Scone airport where the clinical team and paramedics stablised him before flying him to Newcastle.

The other driver, believed to be a a local man, was uninjured.

Update 10:35am: Light vehicles are still being diverted via Middlebrook Road, however heavy vehicles are gradually being let through on the Highway.
