Easter Health Check

THE Easter Bunny agreed to make a low key visit to the Scone Medical Practice today to hear their concerns about the obesity epidemic.

Although the clinic was closed due to it being a public holiday, local doctors wanted to take advantage of the iconic rabbit being in town and were glad he was able to take some time out of his busy schedule to see them.

Dr Paul Beiboer said chocolate is a fantastic treat, but they are concerned about all things in moderation.

“There is a growing obesity problem in society and as local doctors it was great to be able to speak directly to the Easter Bunny about our concerns with junk food,” said Dr Beiboer.

“The Easter Bunny only visits once a year and a treat is great in any diet, but there are many reports of children throwing up by lunch time due to gorging themselves on chocolate in the morning,” he said.

“The rabbit did say he sometimes has a tendency to get over excited in the amount of chocolate he dispenses at Easter and judging by his heart rate you can see how he is excited about everything.

“He was also very aware of the dietary requirements of many children including having a plentiful supply of lactose free chocolate, sugar free chocolate and chocolate alternatives for Easter, his business has certainly diversified over the years,” he said.

“I was also surprised to learn more about the Easter Bunny’s own diet which is extremely healthy with plenty of fresh vegetables and leafy greens, although he does seem to have a disproportionate number of carrots, again all things in moderation is important,” Dr Paul Beiboer said.

The Easter Bunny was apparently disappointed he was unable to meet with Dr R. Abbott.
