LOCAL residents will be heading to a federal by-election in December as a result of the local Member for Parliament being ruled as ineligible to hold office due to being a citizen of New Zealand.
Initial reports are the by-election for the seat of New England, which the Upper Hunter Shire area is now part of, will be held on December 2.
The government only held a one seat majority, so the seat of New England is set to become a serious political battleground.
