“It is a lovely positive film, definitely a feel good film with lots of funny moments,” said Ms Geerin.

“People there ranged from 15 years old to over 60 and at the end so many women cried they were so moved by it,” she said.

“More than 25 percent of young people have serious body concerns, 50 percent of 5 to 12 year old’s want to loose weight and 91% of women hate their bodies,” she said.

“After seeing the documentary most mums said it should be shown in high schools because it’s alarming the statistics and I think a lot of mums after seeing the documentary felt more comfortable to bring their teenage girls to see the documentary next time,” Jaclyn Geerin said.

The documentary quotes statistics that more than 25 percent of young people have serious body concerns, 50 percent of 5 to 12 year old’s want to loose weight and 91% of women hate their bodies.

Embrace is rated 15+ as it shows a doctor explaining female anatomy with images.

There will be a second screening on Monday, September 5, see the Facebook Event for more details: Embrace Muswellbrook.
