The small 100 acre operation with 20 permanent mares and a water walker sold a colt by I Am Invincible and North Pole Dancer for $440,000 and a filly also by I Am Invincible and Rich Megadale for $200,000.

“We are very happy, we couldn’t be happier, we’ve been over the moon for the last couple of days,” said Mr McDonald.

“I’ve been going up there for a few years and I sold one up there last year and that wasn’t too bad, but this is the best sale I’ve had though,” he said.

“I think you’ve just got to have the right horses and if you’ve got the right horses you’ll get the money,” he said.

“Progeny by I Am Invincible are going extremely well and it helped a little bit when the two year old race here was won by an I Am Invincible filly,” he said.

“We have an I Am Invincible colt for next year and a Hinchinbrook filly and hopefully they’ll go alright,” Barry McDonald said.

Other Upper Hunter farms in the top ten sellers which sold all of their horses in book one included Newgate Stud Farm with 38 lots, Yarraman Park Stud with 22 lots and Segenhoe Stud with 15 lots.
