THE first major casualty from the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale has occurred with Press Statement’s half-sister by the deceased sire Street Cry withdrawn because her owner Tony Muollo claimed she was “just too valuable to sell”.

The filly from nine-time winner Kaaptive Empress, was part of Brian Nutt’s Attunga Stud draft at Scone and although disappointed with her withdrawal he could fully understand Muollo’s decision.

“I believe the Street Cry filly would have given Attunga our first million-dollar yearling. But Tony who recently sold a big share of Press Statement to Vinery Stud, the China Horse Club and Raffles Racing as a future stallion, is looking at the long term rather than the short term,” Nutt said.

Kaaptive Empress has a full sister on the ground to Press Statement (by Hinchinbrook) and the mare is back in foal to the same stallion.

Press Statement’s race record shows six wins, two seconds and a Golden Rose fifth from his nine starts and earnings of $1,690,275.
