Fleeting Chance of Snow

Filed in Recent News by July 18, 2017

THERE is a chance of snow down to 11oo metres with a cold air mass predicted to pass over the Barrington Tops tonight.

Rob Taggart from the Bureau of Meteorology expects that any showers in the tops will fall as snow.

“There is a reasonable chance that Barrington Tops will get a shower and we are expecting it to fall as snow above 1100 or 1200 metres so that means places like Polblue campground, if they get a shower it should fall as snow, particularly if it falls in the early hours of Wednesday morning,” Rob Taggart said.

“We don’t expect a lot with it, just a light dusting, there is a chance there could be a shower today but Wednesday’s the best bet.

“Currently there is a cold front moving through south eastern New South Wales at the moment with a cold air mass just behind that, it will move over the Barrington Tops area early Wednesday morning.

“By the time we get to Thursday the coldest air is mostly over the Tasman Sea and generally speaking there will be pretty dry conditions inland,” said Rob Taggart.
