Forecast Not Cool

THE hot weather is set to continue this week around the Hunter Valley with the temperature in Scone set to hit 44 degrees on Saturday.

Jordon Natara from the Bureau of Meteorology said there will a small reprieve in temperatures leading up to Saturday due to an easterly air stream.

“A high pressure system is coming into the southern tablelands so there will be more easterly winds, in those few days you will be in an easterly air stream which is coming off the ocean so a much cooler air mass in general normally occurs,” said Mr Natara.

“As you go into Friday and the hot day Saturday it starts to tend back towards the north westerly winds from internal Australia where we have extreme temperatures which generally give those drier temperatures as well,” he said.

The hot westerly winds from Australia’s internal areas are expected to arrive Friday afternoon.

“Cobar is being forecast at 45 degrees on that Saturday and previous days in the low 40’s around 43 degrees in that same air mass that is coming through the Hunter,” Mr Natara said.

Temperatures may ease early next week to the mid 30’s with an easterly air stream expected across the Hunter region.

High Temperatures for the rest of the week:

  • Tuesday 33
  • Wednesday 31
  • Thursday 36
  • Friday 41
  • Saturday 44
  • Sunday 41
