The ceramics club have spent more than 200 hours making a mosaic and were pleased to meet their deadline of having the piece finished by Horse Festival.

The new feature has replaced a pond in the garden, but still incorporates the Cameron Williams sculptures explained Joanne Van Hees.

“The pond was lovely, but difficult to maintain, so we decided to cement it in and create a mosaic,” said Ms Van Hees.

“The fact that it is an old church ground I felt that it needed to have that feeling about it, so I designed the mosaic to reflect the arches in the church hall, there are shapes like angel wings and someone also pointed out to me that there is an infinity sign and then we put hearts in the middle and then the trinity which goes with the three pieces,” she said.

The three sculptures by Cameron Williams, who made more than 200 hand thrown pots for the new parliament house still take pride of place on the mosaic and there are further plans to improve the garden.

Next year the ceramics club will celebrate their 40 year anniversary.
