Gate Closes on Drayton

TODAY approximately 50 employees closed the gate at Drayton for the last time.

The existing mine closed following the Planning Assessment Commission rejecting Anglo America’s application for the mine extension Drayton South.

There were more than 500 people employed at the mine most of whom lived throughout the Upper Hunter.

Employees were gradually made redundant and the mine is now in caretaker mode.
