Getting Ready to Harmonise

Filed in Recent News by February 13, 2019

THE Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre is preparing for Harmony Day and are calling for a diversity of dishes to be served on the night.

Lee Watts, manager of the Centre, said the dishes created by the community were always the highlight of the celebration.

“What better way to meet new people, to share experiences and get to know your neighbours than by sharing food?” said Mrs Watts.

Jamo Jamo Arts – West African Drum and Dance will provide the entertainment.

“Last year’s very successful evening was attended by many people from a wide variety of backgrounds to share many mouth-watering dishes prepared and shared at the event,” she said.

“I was really impressed by the number of people who joined in with our Harmony Day feast last year and hope that many more can come this year,” she said.

“Everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to bring a dish that reflects their background and culture or just a dish you enjoy making – dressing up in national costumes is also encouraged to add to the occasion,” Lee Watts said.

This year the Centre is partnering with the Scone Library and the drums will be back with an interactive session of Jamo Jamo Arts – West African Drum and Dance.
