THE Australian Government Mobile Service Centre Desert Rose will be in Murrurundi on Friday and Merriwa on Monday.

In addition to the usual services a social worker from the Department of Human Services will be on board to assist with short-term counselling and referrals to support services, and a staff member from the Australian Taxation Office will be available to assist with general taxation enquiries.

In Murrurundi there will be free hearing checks and information from an Australian Hearing staff member.

The staff can also assist with:

  • new claims for a wide range of Centrelink payments
  • updating customer information
  • confirming customer documents and supporting information
  • information on how financial matters may impact on Centrelink payments
  • payment and service options to suit individual circumstances
  • rural payment entitlements for eligible farmers
  • non-cash Medicare transactions
  • Medicare registrations
  • information on Child Support payment and service options
  • specialist support and referrals
  • support with and access to self-service facilities
  • free hearing health checks
  • advice and information for individuals and small businesses about tax and superannuation.

Murrurundi: 9:30am – 3:30pm, Friday, July 21 near Wilson Memorial Park on Mayne Street.

Merriwa: 9:30am – 4pm, Monday, July 24 in front of the Fitzroy Hotel on Palace Street.
