Grass Fire North of Scone

Filed in Recent News by June 14, 2016

AT approximately 2:30pm Scone Fire and Rescue, Kingdon Ponds Rural Fire Service and police responded to a call for a grass fire approximately one kilometre north of Scone on the New England Highway.

Due to the wet conditions the fire did create a lot of smoke, but was a small fire which was easily extinguished.

Graham Brown, district officer of the Liverpool Plains Rural Fire Service said they were glad the person called 000 early.

“We encourage people to call 000 early with fires, we’d much rather attend a fire when it is small, before it gets out of control,” said Mr Brown.

“Currently many people are burning off, but we’d like to remind them to make sure they notify their neighbours and fire control at least 24 hours before they start,” Graham Brown said.
