Groceries for Everyone

THE Seventh Day Adventist food pantry has grown because of the overwhelming support of the community since it was introduced in May this year.

Kim Brown volunteers at the food pantry and said the increase in patronage has enabled them to purchase more items to expand the food pantry.

“I was here in week two when we made $150, we are now making over $700 and by shopping at our store the more we sell the more variety and quantity of goods we can provide,” said Ms Brown.

“The pantry needs  support from all members of the community and is not just for those in need, any purchases help the store to grow,” she said.

“The store is here for everybody in the community, not just those in need, if everybody shops here it benefits those in need because it will reduce the cost of the groceries and increase the range, people need to put aside their pride, distinction and class issues to help support us,” Kim Brown said.

Stanly Nelson who set up the Food Pantry is pleased to see the growth that has happened to the store and wants to expand the churches services to the community with it’s Lend-A-Hand program.

“Next Tuesday we are launching our Lend-A-Hand programme where if you need a hand for whatever reason we can help, covering costs is all we ask if you are able to do that but it is not necessary, it is more about caring for those that need help, basically it is what Jesus would have done,” said Mr Nelson.
