THERE was no local league last weekend, however players selected in the Group 21 team travelled to Tamworth for the Greater Northern Tiger Championships to take on Group 4 and Group 19.

The Tamworth based, Group 4 team proved to be too strong in both First Grade and Ladies League Tag, taking out the Championships.

In First Grade, Group 21 did manage a convincing win over Group 19 however went down in a tough encounter to Group 4.

Scone Ladies Group 21: Maddy Adams, Abbie van Balen, Sofie Casson, Sally Gordon, Charmaine Bloomfield, Hayley Eveleigh and Lisa East.

The Group 21 Ladies League Tag was coached by Scone’s Sofie Casson and, as was the case in the first grade squad, included a number of Scone players.

At the end of the day, the ladies went down to Group 19 by two points and then Group 4 who dominated the day.

The Championships were also selection trials for the Greater Northern Tigers for both first grade and, for the first time, Ladies League Tag.

The first grade team includes four Scone players: Daniel Ritter, Justin Apthorpe, Gary McKeon and Josh Adams, while Sofie Casson and Maddy Adams were selected for League Tag.

The teams will travel to Wyong on May 14 to take on Newcastle Rebels in the Country Championships.

Scone teams are at home to Denman on Sunday with Reserve Grade having a week off.

Games get under way at 11:45am with the Ladies, followed by Under 18’s at 12:45pm and then First Grade at 2pm.
