Have Your Say for Regional Australia

Filed in Recent News by October 12, 2016

EACH year a national survey is conducted to measure the wellbeing of regional Australia and you can participate.

Last year the survey showed 48 percent of people living in regional Australia said their internet access was poor and 31 percent reported poor phone coverage.

The survey results are used to develop better policies and initiatives for rural communities, plus you go in the draw to win survey prizes.

Dr Jacki Schirmer from the University of Canberra encourages people to take part in the online survey or a paper survey can be mailed.

“Taking part lets you have your say on issues that affect your wellbeing and the liveability of your community,” Dr Schirmer said.

“These issues range from your access to the internet and key services, to how events such as floods and drought are affecting you, and how safe your community is, amongst others,” she said.

“This year we also have some questions about experiences of caring for others, and the types of support needed by carers,” Jacki Schirmer said.

Phone 1800 981 499 if you would like a paper survey sent to you or access the survey online: www.regionalwellbeing.org.au.
