Highway Closed at Muswellbrook

THE New England Highway remains closed following a two-truck accident, which occurred at approximately 12:40am near Sandy Creek Road on the northern outskirts of Muswellbrook.

One driver sustained serious limb injuries and was taken to hospital and the other driver was uninjured.

Diversions are in place for light vehicles travelling north via Kayuga Road and Dartbrook Road and for south bound via Dartbrook Road and Kayuga Road.

Heavy vehicles are being held on site.

The rail line was also impacted and temporarily closed, but is now operational.

There are temporary speed restrictions in place on the rail line, which are expected to be lifted at lunch time.
