THE Scone United Hospital Auxiliary held its 81st annual general meeting on Monday and its future is in safe hands with officer bearers elected and 30 loyal volunteers now focused on raising money for an accuvein device for the hospital.

The officer bearers include president Helen Barwick, vice-president Desley McPhee, secretary Sue Dalley, treasurer Audrey Knight, assistant treasurer Beryl Phelps, patrons Helen Archibald and Elaine Wicks.

“The accuvein costs approximately $8,000 and it helps the nurses and the patients,” said Ms McPhee.

“That’s what we try and do, things that help the nurses in their job and make things a it easier for the patients,” she said.

The auxiliary committee often sell raffle tickets in Kelly Street and the donated money stays with the local hospital.

They will also hold a bridal fashion parade fundraising evening on October 25, in conjunction with the Country Women’s Association, with some wedding dresses being more than 60 years old.

Recently the auxiliary have donated 20 new beside tables, recliner chairs and a shower chair for patients weighing 150 kilograms.
