Industrial Action Reprieve

THE industrial action scheduled for today by Rail Tram and Bus Union has been suspended.

The action included two stop work meetings which would have caused disruption to Hunter rail services, however bus services had been organised to transport passengers.

Mr John Fullerton, chief executive officer of the Australian Rail Corporation said the industrial action had cost the community millions and caused unnecessary disruption.

“The action over the last week has cost the NSW economy millions, set rail back years and with further action still underway and additional action possible, the damage is not yet over,” said Mr Fullerton.

“ARTC is proceeding to a vote on Thursday and the offer of a 2 per cent pay increase per year, over three years, and no loss of conditions, is fair and reasonable,” John Fullerton said.

All passengers are advised to check the Transport NSW website before travelling: www.transportnsw.info.
