THE Inglis Classic Yearling sales, which begin on Friday, February 9, has an extra incentive for buyers when they purchase a yearling from the inaugural Highway Session from Book Two, to be eligible for the $100,000 Inglis Challenge two year old race in Scone in 2020.

Chris Russell, New South Wales Bloodstock Manager for Inglis said the change would prove a boost for both vendors and buyers.

The Inglis Challenge 2 year old race will be an added incentive for buyers at this year's Inglis Calssic Yearling Sale.

The Inglis Challenge 2 year old race will be an added incentive for buyers at this year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

“There’s been a huge volume of interest from country and provincial trainers especially regarding the Highway Session, many of whom have asked if graduates from the session will be or could be made eligible for the Inglis Challenge,’’ said Mr Russell.

“In consideration of this, we have decided to act on that client demand and open up our Scone  two year old race to Highway Session graduates as well,” he said.

“Highway Session graduates will also still be eligible for the lucrative $8 million Inglis Race Series, making it a must-attend session of the Classic Sale,” Chris Russell said.

The Scone race is additional to the $50,000 Inglis Highway Bonus which is being introduced this year.

On Wednesday, February 13 the Highway Race Day at Warwick Farm will feature two Highway Handicaps – one for country trained horses and one for provincial trained horses.

If the winner of either race is an eligible Inglis graduate, paid up for the current or a former Inglis Race Series, the winning trainer will receive a $50,000 credit voucher to spend at the Highway Session the following day.
