Inspiring Young Business People

YOUNG people are being encouraged to consider becoming business owners to help create a vision and growth in our community and nominate for the Hunter Young Business Mind Awards program.

Ben Wyndham, president of the Scone Chamber of Commerce said young entrepreneurial people can innovate the local economy.

“We know we are going to need to change and it is the kids today that will be the new direction in a post coal, post power station world,” said Mr Wyndham.

“Encouraging young people to g in new directions or even to start thinking about how business actually works will help grow the small business community and the organic economy here in town and the region,” he said.

“60% of Australian workers are employed in small business it is a crucial part of our economy,” he said.

“As a small business owner in a community like ours you are contributing to the local economy, the town and people’s lives,” he said.

“The downside of course is there can be a lot of pressure, but if you go into business with a strong vision and inspiration you there are many rewards,” he said.

“Most people go about their lives thinking we are going to have a job and a career working for someone else it can be very limiting and we should encourage young people to think about all options,” Ben Wyndham said.

Nominations for the business awards close on October 15.
