Kicking Back with Slim

A bus load of men from the Upper Hunter travelled to Buttai Barn this week to listen to celebrate the work of Slim Dusty.

Belinda McKenzie, project officer at the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre (SNRC) said all reports are they had a good time.

“The group had a fantastic day out that began with morning tea and followed by a hearty home-baked carvery lunch and dessert and two hours of live entertainment celebrating the great Slim Dusty,” she said

Lee Watts, manager of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre said “it’s a shame a program such as the Virtual Shed that supports rural men will finish in December after eight very successful years.”

“Men from the Upper Hunter Shire and Muswellbrook have enjoyed a range of health and social activities including informative talks, resources and tours,” she said.

“We will continue to look at grant opportunities for rural men,” she said.

“And we hope there will be one last tour,” Lee Watts said.
