Last Chance for Dartbrook Submissions

Filed in Recent News by April 8, 2019

AUSTRALIAN Pacific Coal has lodged a modification to the Dartbrook mine near Aberdeen and submissions to the Planning Assessment Commission close tomorrow.

The company has applied to make the underground mine a bord-and-pillar operation as an alternative to longwall, change the method of transferring coal to the train loadout facility using a new enclosed shaft and extend the period of approval by five years. See the proposed modifications here: Major Projects NSW Planning.

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment has recommended approval for the modifications and referred the proposal to the Independent Planning Commission.

The Company website also states they conducted a study which “confirms the technical and financial capability of the Dartbrook Open-Cut Project”, however change to an open cut operation is not part of the current proposed modifications being assessed by the Independent Planning Commission.
