Letter: Parade on a Sunday

Filed in editorletters by May 10, 2018

SCONE Horse Parade on a Sunday for the first time…. Did it make any difference?

I am told that most people said that the attendance was down from last year.

I am wondering if there were any people who come from other areas that have come to Scone on Friday night expressly to see the Scone Parade on Saturday Morning?

I didn’t think the Horse Week Parade was as good as previous years, and I have heard the same from locals I have spoken to.

So, will the horse week parade continue now on a Sunday morning when the majority of shops are closed or will it return to the usual Saturday morning venue?

There maybe many reasons why one day makes so much difference.

I was also told by a stall holder at the Scone Grammar School Fete which is on after the Horse parade, was down in attendance of approximately 20-30 percent which is a huge amount.

So, the same question: Does having the Scone Grammar School Fete on a Sunday instead of Saturday cause the downturn in attendance, or is there another problem that we don’t know about??

I believe, if the parade gets smaller, then the crowd attendance will also get smaller.
