Liverpool Crossing Progress

Filed in Recent News by April 5, 2017

WORK on the Liverpool Street rail crossing took place today.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) had been contacted by several residents regarding the uneven surface of the crossing.

Penny Lankse, project engineer for the ARTC was onsite to oversee the project.

“Over time the weight of the trains on the tracks means the tracks lower so we have placed material beneath the tracks to build it up,” said Ms Lankse.

“It is maintenance that we will need to do on a regular basis,” she said.

“We’ve also redone the pedestrian crossing because there are a lot of motorised scooters which use the crossing,” she said.

“The Liverpool Street crossing is a busy crossing and we have been conscious of getting this lane (east bound lane) done first to ensure the school buses can go through,” Penny Lankse said.

Work will be completed by Thursday night.

UPDATE: work was completed on Wednesday evening.
