Of the six competitors, who represented Jiu Jitsu Dynamix based in Scone, four took to the mats for the first time in a tournament.

Rod Eadie, coach at Jiu Jitsu Dynamix said the experience of competing is valuable at all levels of development.

“There is a saying in Jiu Jitsu that ‘you either win or you learn’ and when you compete it is a great opportunity for our members to test their skills against people from across the state,” said Mr Eadie.

“For our younger members they learn some good life skills of going through the training to prepare, learning to manage nerves, staying focused and competing,” he said.

“I am really proud of how our team performed, it takes courage to go to compete for the first time and they are looking forward to many more tournaments now,” Rod Eadie said.
