Long Weekend Police Wrap

POLICE were pleased to report there were no serious road accidents in the Hunter Local Area Command during the June long weekend, however they continue to shake their heads at people who drive on our roads drunk and people who won’t slow down.

The traffic infringement notices issued included:

  • 11 for not wearing a seatbelt;
  • 141 for speeding and
  • 260 for other various offences.

Police random breath tested 2,373 people over the long weekend and while results of the breath testing are still be collated, there was a male aged 66 in Merriwa who returned a mid-range reading and a 44 year old woman in Aberdeen returning a mid-range reading of 0.107.
