The cooler weather did not deter a large crowd from gathering at the Dawn service, where Brion Booth read a poignant and moving poem.

Later, many community members gathered for the main service at the Cenotaph supported by the Catafalque Party from RAAF Williamtown.

Merriwa Central School, St Joseph’s Primary School Merriwa, Scone Grammar School and St Joseph’s High School Aberdeen were all represented by a number of students.

James Hagley and Breanna Goodear, Merriwa Central School captains addressed the large crowd and spoke of the bravery and courage of the ANZAC’s and how we should remember and respect the sacrifices they have been made for us.

Wreaths were laid by all schools and a large number of local community organisations including the Lighthorse Brigade, Merriwa Volunteer Rescue Association and Merriwa Pony Club.
