SCONE Park will be the place to be this Saturday, with Scone Junior Rugby League hosting their last Mini Mod League home game for the year.

We also see all but two teams playing at home, with the 12’s and 14’s playing away.

Last weekend saw our under 12’s cement their spot on top of the competition ladder, with a tough win over Cessnock.

It wasn’t looking good at half time with Scone going into the sheds down 18-12, but they were able to regroup for the second half and take the win 24-18.

This win also gives the boys the Minor Premiership and hopefully a lot of confidence going into the business end of the season.

As I said in the piece last week, our under 14’s have had an extremely tough season so far, but on Saturday the boys won just their second game of the year and this wasn’t just any win, it was a 24-10 score line against the competition leaders Dungog.

The win will do their confidence the world of good and just goes to show that hard word does pay off.

This Saturday we see a top of the table clash in the under 16’s, with Scone hosting Central Charlestown.

This will be an extremely tough game but we are hopeful that our boys keep a level head and play for the 60 minutes.

The winner of this match takes outright first position and the confidence going into their next clash on Wednesday night.

Our under 13’s and under 15’s will be looking to bounce back from last round defeats and get their seasons back on track with a win at home.

After a tough loss, it always helps to play at home and get the crowd behind you, we are hopeful that they can put last week behind them and get some consistency going into finals.

This is a huge day for the club, with kick off at 9am and the last hooter sounding just after 2pm.

Entry is free and we will have full canteen facilities available with steak sandwiches, pies, hot dogs, drinks and even the odd sweet treat for the kids.

We will even have our famous “Thoroughbred Hot Chips” available, so come on down and show your support.

Off the Field

Our “Night Out” at the Scone Sporties on the July 30 is coming along quite nicely.

Ticket sales from parents, sponsors, supporters and life members have steadily been increasing and should make for a great evening.

There will be lucky door prizes for both the gents and ladies, the ladies will also receive a glass of champagne upon arrival.

We will be holding a silent auction on the night and a raffle in the weeks leading up to the evening.

Some of the items that we have are, a NSW jersey signed by SSO3 winning team and Gal’s last origin, a signed West Tigers jersey, Todd Lowrie’s Storm jersey #13, Godolphin stud tour, artwork by local artist Stuart Dawson and quite a few gift vouchers from local businesses.

This is only a snippet of what we have to offer, there is something for everyone.

If any of these items appeals to you, buy a ticket in our raffle or purchase a ticket to our “Night Out”, it will be an entertaining evening with great live music and great people, come along and support the club that is nurturing the next batch of NRL Stars.

Tickets can be purchased through Brooke McInerney 0488 216 126 or Grant Mackay 0415 846 371 .
