Moonan Going Nuts

Filed in Recent News by February 19, 2018

THE Moonan Mummer’s are preparing to tread the boards in their latest production ‘My Husband is Nuts’, by Devon Williamson.

Kath McLoughlin, secretary of the Mummer’s said the production is a great fit for the Mummer’s crew.

“Besides being hilarious and ever so slightly ridiculous, it’s also the perfect length for our patrons,” said Ms McLoughlin.

“The two acts work perfectly with our two-course dinner and have Patrons travelling home at a reasonable time,” she said.

Richard Carter, president of the Mummer’s said he hoped the humour would be a welcome relief during the drought.

“There is an astonishing amount of work that goes into our productions, but it’s a wonderful opportunity to raise large amounts of money for local charities, while providing entertainment for our patrons,” he said.

“During this terrible drought, we need some comic relief so come along and socialise and leave your worries behind,” Richard Carter said.

The Upper Hunter Moonan Mummer’s has been entertaining people for nearly 50 years and in the last 10 years have donated more than $75,000 to local charities including the Scone and District Cancer Support Group, Upper Hunter Education Fund, Scott Memorial Hospital and Muswellbrook Oncology.

Synopsis of the play: Barbara Fitzgerald’s Husband has a reputation. He is the pride of the district, advisor to the National Farmers Federation and Dairy Australia, he is a sporting legend, and honour of all honours, he is opening the R.A.S Show this Saturday. That is, if Barbara can restore his mind in time. You see, her husband is nuts. The only people she can trust with this information is the new vet and village idiot. They are determined to fix Jack in time for the show- even without professional help, or common sense.
